Love the design, but wondering if it works as well as it looks?

Wanted to bump this up and see if anyone had used this vise yet. I'm ready to make the upgrade to a rotary. Still using my old HMH.
Thanks

I got zero response, but did find a review of it from a professional flytier and he had some issues with it - one issue was that is was unstable and would tip forward as I recall....I ended up with a Renzetti Cam Traveler and like it very much.

Surf- I think I read the same review. Was hoping for a second opinion. The Traveler was actually what I was looking for when I saw the Thompson. I think I'll stick with the Renzetti.
Thanks

I am familiar with the vice as I used to work in a fly shop that carried it. I would NOT recommend the vice. It simply doesn't hold hooks very well. You'll be much happier with a Renzetti or something else.

Zug - one of the posters on the site had a renzetti and all his tool up for sale...can't recall which post, but do a search for renzetti - from the last week....think it was $150.
good luck. I love my renzetti.

Thanks- I was down at Swede's in Woodinville the other day and they had the Cobra. It didn't hold the display fly very well (about a size 2 saltwater) and seemed a little tippy to me. Renzetti it is.
Thanks again, ZB

I have to agree with the Renzetti. I bought the traveler series with the C-clamp and it is awsome. I have already tied size 24 midges and size 2-0 steelhead streamers and the hooks do not move. Smooth action too. You won't be disappointed.

I read in Fly Rod & Reel that Thompson has gone out of business.

Definitely out of business, but there sight may still be up (for what reason, I don't know). I too bought a traveller, what a dream! My Thompson "A" broke the collet, with only a cob job to save it (ended up being a Christmas present)
