Here is today's spey fly for everyone.

This fly is really one of the most standard spey flies ever.

Hook: Spey of Choice
Body: Black wool
Rib: 3 wraps of gold or silver tinsel and 3 wraps in between of gold or silver twist, both wound reverse.
Hackle: Spey cock imitation wrapped backwards and reinforced with olive thread. The color should be a brown/red and a tail feather with a thin quill
Wing: Bronze Mallard
Tag:Orange Silk

so being the curious type i have to ask a dumb question. troutman uses what apears to be some sort of cord on his fly for the "eye" of the hook and speyman does not. is there a reason for this? do you have to remove the eye of a normal hook to add the cord? just kind of curious, they are both beautiful flies. jer

No real reason, they will both catch the same fish or fisherman whichever sees it first.

Chances are, Speyman's will make it to the water sooner than mine. I keep going for the pesky winter trout on the Yakima and avoiding the Steelhead this winter.
