Found a nice road kill gray squirrel in Eastern Wa
couldn't believe the size of the tail hairs--hope to retrieve it from my fishing buddies cabin before he uses it for decorating his christmas tree.

I usually let somebody elses bumper do all the work. The problem with raod kill is sometimes you throw some carcass in the back and forget about it, not good on hot day in august.

As for the cat, well you guys MIGHT have some issues. I'mm not sure and i don't want to find out how it tatses.

I do know of a friend who ties flies from his chesapeak's fur though--rally water resistent stuff.

I thought it was illegal to take road kill.

My buddy's got it bad,saw a dead bird on the shoulder of the road on the way home and turned the car around to get a better look at it. It was only a Grouse. He's been shooting them so he doesn't need anymore feathers.

I can totally relate about the cat thing, Worldanglr. Our calico cat's coat sports medium length fur in a nice blue-grey and with some cream coloring. I've taken a brush to her and wound up with some very nice dubbing. I used it for my first attempt at tying an Adams. Though the fly was a tad off on its proportions, it did catch some fish on the North Fork of the Snoqualmie this past summer. I imagine you'll be crawling on all fours with a hair brush soon enough, eh? No worry. If you start brushing them early in life, they'll easily come to enjoy it.

I have the same problem. I was working at a house and looking at their two little shelty dogs fur (lil lassie dogs) had the same thoughts.

pets make for great material. i got into a rather large fight with a EX-girlfriend when i removed some hair from her pet rabbit. i still have some of that great dubbing and dont see that bad girlfriend anymore.

Is harvesting road-kill illegal? I suppose it is considering you can't hit a deer and throw it in the back of the truck, like in Montana?

I'll be good and stay away from the beaver post (haha)!!!
