Here is a cool pattern. SInce I love Spider style flies I was playing around with my new Glimmer Body material and I figured out that it makes great Alec Jackson style fly bodies. The big profile and no mass is perfect for summer runs. The long fibers with abit of sparkle are enticing but not frightening. Add to that a collar of Silver Pheasant, dyed or natural, and you can create some great combinations. I tie them on AJ Steelhead Irons so they will sink a bit on a dry line from size 3-9.

Silver Spider by Jack Cook
Thread - black
Hook AJ Steelhead Iron 3-9
Body - Steelhead Anglers Glimmer Body - you choose the color
Collar - Silver Pheasant, dyed or natural. Teal, Gadwall or even Widgeon would be fine.

Cool pattern. Nice and simple so I wouldn't mind sacrificing them to the fish gods. Nice!:thumb

I have never used that glimmer body material...how does it move in the water? Something like a marabou or like canadian leech yarn?

i've tied a bunch of polar shrimp patterns using this material in the orange color. never used them so i don't know how they look in the water. they look cool out of the water though.

Think of it as fine, plastic Spey Hackle with fiber optic sparkles. It looks subtle but inviting.

Dry Flies catch Steelhead!
