Y'all know that we have many a fly swap and I've been in a couple myself, but what I'm wondering is, has there ever been a fly swap done on a specific fly. What I'm am talking about would be a fly swap done for wooley buggers, okay, and instead of receiving 12 or so different flies we would receive different variations of the wooley bugger. just a thought I would like to do one or be part of one.

Truth be known...I am running low on wooley buggers.

I would go in with ya but I am in the marathon swap an its going to take more concentration and persistance than I have when doing two swaps. Good Idea though.

We did something similar with Adams a while ago. The swap turned out great! I swapmeistered that one, and I'd do it again if folks showed any interest. I could always use some motivation for tying up some buggers.

Mine will be the Grizzly Snarl. Tied with Green grizzly tail, sparkle green chenille, Green grizzly hackle and a grey grizzly collar.

Cool...so that makes 2 of us so far. I was just going to tie a simple completely olive bugger with a copper bead head

I'd be interested in getting in on this swap. Haven't done one in a while and WB's are easy.

I'm in.

Count me in.

Well if this is going to happen I would like to get in on it. My fly of choice is a Yellow W/B with brown hackle. I know it works in lakes but I haven't tried it in rivers yet.

Now all I have to do is win the lottery so I can afford the hooks, feathers, and thread. It's hell on a fixed income.

So if this is going down please let me know when or what.

I know I don't do this much but being that it is a W/B I should be able to do these. Or come up with a new twist on one.

I figured that this had just fell to the waist side awhile back...Well right now I count 6 that are in.

I think if we can get around 12 tyers here within today or tomorrow I think we should give this a max of 30 days...how does that sound with everyone?

I'll go in too, if you all are going to do it. Just let me know the details.

Okay so far we have:
Myself
Irafly
Papafish
flylikeIdo
old man
Nooksack34
Diehard

Can we get at least 3 more folks...with such a simple pattern it should be pretty quick. I'm thinking of setting a 30 day swap. I'll give the sign-up till tomorrow morning whether we have at least 10 or just what we have now. If it stays the way it is now, perhaps we can think about tying twice the number present, any thoughts?

I don't know how you guys feel about this but I'm thinking that being tomorrow morning is the deadline for sign-up that Oct. 2 should be enough time to get the flies done, what y'all think? Thats 3 solid weeks to do buggers. Then That following monday I'll ship them out.

By the way I think I'll tie up a beadhead olive bugger w/ purple hackle.

I don't know I was looking for some input from all y'all about whether everyone wanted to do 2 ea. variations or just one. I myself would love to do 2 ea. I could do a trout type bugger and then one for steelies. anyone else have any thoughts?????

If I can still get in, I've got a great bugger pattern that'll just knock your socks off. I'm going to be production tying them for the shop I guide out of in MT, so I'll be in the mood to tye them anyway.

It doesn't matter to me either way. I've got one set tied up now so let me know if i need to tie up another.

Scott Behn
09-08-2004, 11:14 PM
Okay... Longs for Cutts your in the swap. That makes 10 tyers can't take anymore...

We will go with 1 variation per tyer.

(Edit) I have been informed, by the love of my life, that I need to tie something for the winter runs...so I'm setting my variation on a green-butt bugger I use for winter steelies.

So lets have a great swap and lemme clarify that previous post I stated that flys have to be to me by 02 Oct. I should have said that they need to be mailed by 02 Oct 04, sorry about that folks.

Lets start tying.

Mine are coming along. I tied one up today and then threw it in the garbage can. It looked like shit. Well I think all of my flies look that way. I can't decide what size hook to use. I'm thinking a #6.

Jim

I'll vouch for Havok. He can't even fish right. :beathead:

09-11-2004, 11:23 PM
Mine are finished. But I did tie up a total of 20, so I'm just going to send them that way. Every one gets two each.
I did 10 lightly weighted, black marabou tails with gold highlites, black ice chinelle body and black neck hackle.
10 gold bead heads, yellow rabbit tails with pearl Kryastal Flash, olive chinelle body with yellow neck hackle.
Both sets on size 6 TMC 5262 down eye, 2X heavy, 2X long forged bronze hooks.
I'll put them in the mail Monday.

Mine are also done and everyone will get one of each pattern and you can have what's left over. I won't let on what's coming because it'll ruin the surprise. I should be getting them out this week. Thanks again for hosting the swap.

I haven't even started mine. But with this beautiful weather I think that I will knock them out today. It doesn't take long to do them but I have to get in the mood to do them and I haven't been inspired as of yet. :beathead: But it's getting closer.

Jim i'm sure that you have nothing better to do, so get motivated.

Old Man
09-14-2004, 04:58 PM
Well mine are all done. It's the weather that made me do it. I was going to drop out because of my shakes. But I said the hell with them and did them all today and I didn't shake at all. Most flies that I have ever done at one time. Will send them on their way by Friday. Got to find some place to throw a fly before then.

mine went in the mail today; return postage is in the envelope in stamp form.
I was going to sent the recipes with them but, ran out of printer ink. won't be able to get some more before Friday. Would you like me to PM them to you? Randy

Scott,

My tying recipes were listed in my last thread reply. I didn't include any with the flys, which were sent out today.

If I need to send something else let me know.

This is the first time I checked this thread since I tried to get in. I was expecting an email confirmation or something. Since I'm a grad student, I won't have time to tye my contributions in the next few days.

Sorry everybody. I should have been more on the ball.

Here's my pattern so you can tye some if you want:

Hook: 3x long streamer, #2-6
Bead: black, 3/16 inch
Tail: two plumes brown-dyed grizzly Chickabou
Body: Lt. Sow Bug Wapsi Sow-Scud Dubbing
Hackles: 3-5 brown/tan/white/black-mottled ringneck pheasant shoulder "Church Window" feathers. Brown-dyed grizzly saddle will work in a pinch,if you make a tan line up the stem with a Pantone pen.

Once again, sorry. May I never catch another steelhead (for a little while anyway).
