Anyone have any interest in doing an Atlantic Salmon/ Steelhead hairwing swap?
Been tying up a lot of Professors, Red Abbeys, Grizly Kings, BlackBear Green Butts and a myriad of other classics.
I'd probably do a Nighthawk or Black Ghost for the swap.

Heh there David I would be interested depending on when you start this swap. I'm swapmiester on the Bugger swap and that don't officially end till Oct. 02.

Edit: The Lum Plum is what I'll probably tye

Anything/Anytime is good for me. We'll see what kind of #'s we are looking at. Most hairwings dont take too long to tie so hopefully we can get a good number. Probably ending about 1 month after we get our final group.
I am thinking 12 to 14.

If I start tying now, I should be ready. Let me know the number of flies and due date. Don't know what I'll tie yet.

Why dont we start with a due date of Oct 25 and a max of 10 people. I dont really think we will get 10 but who know. That gives us about 5 weeks.

OK guys let me know if this works for you...
We'll give people until the 24th of Sept to sign up with a due date of Oct 25.
There are 4 of us right now and if it stays this few or even add one more I was thinking we cold tie up 2 patterns apiece for a total of 8 or 10 flies depending on the number of people. if we get up 7 or above scrap the idea.
Let me know if the dates work for you and what you think.
Thank you.
David

D3S,

One or two patterns depending on sign-up sounds good to me. Deadline is fine for either.

I would like to tie my pattern: The Lusty Lady

you are welcome to join in as long as the lusty lady has nothing to do with the place on 1st and Seneca in downtown seattle. :thumb:

No it doesn't... more to do with the color... besides... I like the sound of that name. Right on. I look forward to seeing the others' creations. :beer2:

If you have any open slots I would like to get in on it. let me know. I don't know what I will tie but it will be good! I can let you know.

Now that we are at 7 lets just go with 1 fly apiece.

Okay great! I am going to do a modified Patricia. I have had pretty good luck with this one. I have Caught Steelies with it on both the Kalama and the washougal. Instead of using Claret I use kaufmans brown mixture, it's pretty good. :D

Is there a sign up deadline for the swap? mine are done regardless and once the cutoff is made i will send them out, once a name and address is posted of course. :)

Heh there David is this hairwing swap catered towards the winter runs or is it just a hairwing swap for any run???

Just curious, cause my lum plum I use primarily for summer runs...If you're looking for winter run flies I have a few other patterns I can choose from for that.

Thought I should ask before I start...

D3Smartie

It doesnt matter. I am going with an Atlantic salmon fly which can also be used for summer runs on the G.R. and we have done well with it on the Snake.

Scott Behn
09-25-2004, 09:36 PM
Okay then...the lum plum I have always used on the Klickitat and that area durning the summer...Haven't tried it up here for this time of year or even later on...

D3Smartie
09-26-2004, 12:54 PM
sounds good scott.
any other favorites for the Klickitat? I'm going to tie up a box for a friend who loves to fish there and was wondering what I should include.

I just finished 8 Black Ghosts while watching the Saints-Rams game. Might have to tie up another pattern over the next few weeks.

Monk

So is it gonna be one or two patterns? I have one done and can send them off now. If it is two let me know. I am in B.C. right now, so I will send them off A.S.A.P. Thanks, Scott

D3Smartie
09-27-2004, 11:42 AM
just one.

Unless you wanted to do a little side pot type deal where we each tied up a couple more. If you wanted to tie 3 more patterns i'd type up 3 more and we could just do a little 1 on 1 swap.
I've been doing a lot of tying and wouldnt mind tying up some different patterns.

Had we decided more then one pattern earlier i could have done, but i can't now. i already used the rest of my hooks on egg sucking leeches and haven't received the others that i ordered yet aaaannd i will be away from my tying materials for a few weeks starting friday so i won't be able to tie more then the ones i already did. bawling:

D3Smartie

no problem mike. I was just talking a little side pot with Monk.

Hey dave i tied up ten, but because i am going TDY (military shit) for awhile i will have to send the ten i have. if a couple more people sign up, then there are some extra's there and if not then keep the extras. thanks for putting on the swap.

D3Smartie
09-27-2004, 07:47 PM
you'll get ten back mike. I'll tie up a few more to make it 10.
Thank you for your service.

Do you fish O.P. steelhead, The deschutes or grande ronde? what rivers should i tie for?
