Campbell River is hosting a celebration of one of the countries most influential conservationist and fly fishers. The Rod Haig-Brown festival takes place on the Haig Brown property Sunday September 26 from 11AM to 6PM in Campbell River. the museum an house will be open to the public as well as many other activities available for people of all ages.
This is short notice but what the heck. The opportunity to wander through the house and property, to stand behind his desk and look out over the same view of the yard and river that he had while thinking and writing is well worth the trip. I visited his home sometime in the mid eighties, before it was an official museum and got a tour from his daughter. She allowed me to fish behind the house. She was out front planting flowers and I couldnt resist stopping and asking. The image of that view is still as clear in my mind as it was then.
