How do you folks deal with static electricity in your tying of deer hair and other materials prone to this problem?

Sometimes I have issues with static e. in the rabbit when i am making dubbing brushes. I keep a dryer sheet in my pocket & rub my hands together with it when the static builds up.

Very simple

Tye outside,,, in the rain.

I don't know why more people don't do this. :ray1:

I think I know how you come up with these answers. You get this way by living in Duval on the side of that hill. This is about the only town that I know of that is built on the side of a hill.

Actually, I live a few miles outside of town and on top of a hill.
All those people living on the hillside have one leg shorter than the other and walk in circles.

The next few days should be perfect for outdoor, static free tying. Bring a warm sweater.

Like Kristin, I use a dryer sheet, but I wrap it around the deer hair bundle and rub the bundle. I also rub it on the comb I use for removing the guard hair/under hair stuff.

I am wondering if the chemical odors from dryer sheets and sprays etc might be a repellant to fish???

Hmmm..Actually, I've wondered that too. However, Ryan, Yard and Alpine use the brushes all the time, if those guys are any indication, there's no problem with the chemicals or scent from the dryer sheets.

Or, the fish are partial to "mountain breeze' scented sheets :)
