I'm making up Santas wish list and put a tyers light on it . I was looking at getting a Mckenzie but, also had my eye on the Made 2 fly's tyers light. Anybody use one of these for on the road ? If so what kind do you have and what are your opinions on it?

Randy,
I had a chance to tie with a Mckenzie while I was over in Idaho. Nice bright lite. When reaching for stuff I managed to get my fingers a little hot. The guy who owned it said the bulbs were pretty fragile, but I have no experience there.
I've added a Daylight Fly Tiers Vise Light to my wish list. It's color balanced for daylight, it's floro so no heat, clamps to the vise shaft or to the table top. It runs about $75 at Feathercraft. Should be great for those motel/cabin tying sessions.

The Made 2 Fly vise light is awesome. It is comparable to the Daylight vise but half the price.

A friend got the McKenzie from Santa last year. It attaches to the vice stem but makes the vice more than a little topheavy and prone to tipping over if you're using a pedestal base vice and you brush against it by accident. I'd steer clear and look for something freestanding.
