Am heading to the Skagit in late December. Looking to do some catch&release dolly fly fishing. My question is, were is the best place to launch a larger (21’) jet boat? The mouth of the baker, Howard miller, or across the river from Rockport? The steeper the boat launch the better….

Well if you are planning on the skagit I would say do not launch at the sultan bridge.... I would say stick to Howard Miller launch.

Fabers north side is a good lanuch for sleds. Or Howard Miller.

This all depends on where on the river is closest to you. In Rockport, Stealhead Park has a nice ramp. 5-8 miles east is Marblemount, close to the hatchery or you could launch at Concrete.

It'd be quite a long boat ride but certainly do-able.:thumb:

You could launch at Marblmount, Swift Creek between Marblemount and Rockport, Howard Miller Park in Rockport, Faber's north (off hwy 20 just before the Sauk Store Road between Concrete and Rockport), or mouth of
Baker.

Actually, Swift Creek and Marblemount would be tough with a boat that size. Howard Miller or Faber's would work.

Boats that size are routinely launched at both Miller and Fabers but if he is looking for the steepest launch then Faber's is it. There are launches on both sides of the river at Faber's (old ferry landing) though the north side of hwy 20 would probably be the easiest for those coming from Whatcom County.

That launch will put you several miles downstream of the mouth of the Sauk.

Good luck

The steepest launch is at Birdsview.
