Every now and then folks post about wanting to attach an image to their post but they don't understand how to attach a picture. This is a basic walkthrough on how to attach one or more images to your post.

1. First thing you need to do is create a new post, easy enough.

2. Add a title and some content to your post, when you're ready to attach some images you need to click on the Manage Attachments button below.

3. When you press the Manage Attachments button it will pop up a new window that looks like the image below. Click on the Browse button to select a file to attach. Note the key on the bottom of this window which outlines how big your attached files can be. There are limitations to file sizes, you may need to re-size pictures in order to get them to attach.

4. Select the image that you wish to attach.

5. You should now see the path to your image in the first blank field. You need to click the Upload button to transfer that image to the message board server. It may take a couple minutes to upload depending on the speed of your internet connection. You're a fisherman, be patient.

6. Once the upload has been completed you should see your file listed under the current attachments. You can now close the attachment managment popup window and go back to your main post screen.

7. You should basically be all done at this point, all you need to do is click the Submit New Thread button and your post with your attachments should show up in whatever forum you are posting to. Prior to submitting your new thread you can once again see your attached files listed below.

That's about it, feel free to post replies here if you have questions or comments.

ibn,
can you get pix into the body of the post if they are not already on the web, but you have uploaded them as attachments?

Jergens,

I could be wrong, but I don't think so. You could probably upload them to the gallery and then use the IMG tag to link to them there. Unless Chris has disallowed that sort of thing.

What I do usually is upload those photos into my gallery, and then use the code displayed below the photo for usage within the forum.

If you would like to skip that step and upload to the forum, after you've uploaded you can click on the link displayed which shows your photos were uploaded, and then use that URL when adding a photo to display within the message.

Usually the best method is to simply upload using the normal method and so the thumb is display with a link to a larger photo. It makes the threads easier to navigate than if there are a lot of inline photos taking up large amounts of space.
