The other thread reminded me of a material that I wanted for some soft hackle flies. Years ago I had the perfect male starling in my scope. Fired and got it, by the time I left the porch the cat under said bird snatched it and was gone. I laughed just thinking about the cat that a bird came from heaven. To this day I'm still looking for the starling hackle.

That's a funny story. I'll bet you wouldn't have to look too hard for another perfect starling, though!

why bother looking for the starling, the cat would be easier:thumb:
plus, it is a sustainable harvest from the cat. just call kitty over to the tying bench and take a couple clips....here kitty kitty...

Mr Trout--funny you should mention it because I have used kitty for my flies before. Works great as a dubbing material for nymphs. Here kitty, kitty.......MEOW

Before I started tying GRHEs it was GRCBs (GR Cat's Butt). With a Calico I had a nice color selection. :)

I have two cats:thumb: one brown his mane seems to have a never ending supply of fur. The second is a white and black with more wirely hair. Both working great for dubbing. On this topic I haven't seen any Blue Jay Feathers around any suggestions?

My daughters russian blue has perfect coloring for the adams. If that wasn't bad enough, her Siberian Husky has decorated many a fly as well. And she continues to wonder why her mutt stays clear of me when I'm tying.:p
