So here it is... my first ever tube fly and first time palmering marabou... What do ya'll think? It looks to me like it is way too bushy, but then again I hear people say that they like them that way...this is just marabou with some krystal flash and a little hackle around the collar. Simple, but a good place to start. Also, it seems the pinkish marabou was a lot longer than the purple. should I just do fewer wraps per feather so as to not get the super long fibres at the end of those feathers? Feel free to critique!

Honestly, looks good to me! I’ve never tied a tube fly or fished one before but I tie all my marabou patterns bushy as well. They work and that one will too. Don't change it up just tie more of the same in different colors :thumb:

Looks really good! It is your fly, so you can do what ever with it! I love the super long fibers. I look through my marabou for the longest I can find for bigger tube flies.
One question to ask you is how much space you left on the rear part of the tube. Did you leave enough room for a larger tube to slide over to hold your hook straight back. I just learned about that from Anil @ christmas.

Man, if I was a fish I'd bite that fly. But heck, what do I know, I eat Cheetos, Oreos, and Snickers bars. It's still a good lookin' fly though.

How much is enough space at the end of the tube? I too have just started tying tubes today and looking at my flies, I have left about 1/4 of an inch. Do I need more space?

1/4 inch should be fine. Just need enough room to slip the junction tubing over it so it holds your hook in place.

Ibn,
I have a question for you about the junction tubing? I use alot of the large HMH tubing for my seelhead flies. When I put the junction tubing on the back of the fly, The eye of the hook is too small to make a firm hold. Would you tie them on a smaller tube or find a different hook. Right now the junction tubing is just kind of there not really doing anything.
Thanks
Chris

You can take a pice of smaller junction tubing and stick it inside the larger junction tube, I've dont that before, or just use a bigger hook. Or like you said you could just tie them on smaller tubes. Lots of options.

Just to add to the thread, I've got some slider and popper heads that I'll stick on to a tube then run junction tubing off of that and connect it to the top of the fly, like a daisy chain, you can convert regular flies to poppers/sliders this way. More useful in the salt then steelheading.

Thanks for the ideas. I have made some tube sliders and they are really cool. Haven't come up with the idea of making popper heads. Thats an Awesome Idea!

Damned! That's your first?!?!?!?! Very nice and definitely will reaffirm a "Chomp chomp" if you swim that beauty. Excellent job.
