Alright you tube tiers, has anyone tried this tube fly adapter out?

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20431&id=0036530319046a&navCount=1&podId=0036530&parentId=cat20534&navAction=push&catalogCode=IG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20534&hasJS=true

I don't know if that link will work, but they sell it at cabela's among other places. It is a tube fly adapter that you stick into your regular vise.

Is this a good option for tubes or are there better alternatives w/o having to get a whole new vise? I don't want to get one and then find out that the tubes slip around in it etc.

Thanks guys,
Eric

It works great. I use that, as do several other guys I know who tie tubes. No need to get a new vice.

It is awesome. It works very well. I have it on a norvise and I have no complaints at all.

I use it and like it as well. Only problem is its small size makes it easy to misplace. Now where did it put it....

I just started tying tubes, and I use that. I wanted to see if I liked it and didnt see a point in sinking in another hundred bucks for a whole vise. Unless you tie exclusively tube flies, I cant see needing anything more than this little thingamajig. If you have an adjustable rotary vise, you can even use it for rotary tying. I just got the cheapo one, not the one that costs 20 dollars more for machined pins...

The HMH Tube Fly Tool is best in a walk. I've used it since 1994, or therabouts. It appeared in Tube Flies which came out in 1995. Be sure to purchase the deluxe model with the nice set of mandrels. The pedestrian model is OK for casual use but does not hold a tube as securely.
Good Tying,

It's the best. And, I think it may even be cheaper than it was 10 years ago!

There are a few copy cats for sale, say, on ebay; don't get 'em. Pop for the extrar $10-$15 and get the HMH. :thumb:
