Great looking bugs. I used to tie commercially when I was guiding/working on my undergrad, 500 doz flies a winter. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work at the same time. At least it makes those long winter days go by a lot faster. I always used to wonder, which one of these flies is going to be the one to land me a 40 lb king this year? For all you know it is the one you tied last night!
Sweet airplane, thanks for sharing the pics. The summer will be here before you know it.

Those are some really great looking bugs...Have you tried taking the two-hander down to the river and trying for those big cats? Well spring isn't that much further out with it's ice-off. Those pike are just waiting for that lowly surface fly...Man!!!!

The red river ruuns at about 1 inch visibility. So my freinds just use alot of bait. I have tried fishing pike around here but everydy that I have gone, It has been blowing 30 mph. So when everything thaws out in 3 months, I might have to try it out again.

Nice flies. This is something that I should be doing. But I have more than I need now so I just don't :beathead: :beathead:

Yeah I hear ya...I read an article about a guy that basically is thinking outside the box and when ice-off finally does occur he is out there on the river two-handed fishing for some monster channel cats and is quite successful, I'll have to locate that article.
Devils Lake is a great lake for the Northerns. Especially in the shallows just as the ice has exposed them. Action that will make ya "crap your pants" especially with dry flies (mouse and frog imitations).

My friends go out there right after the ice melts. They Northerns come up shallow to psawn and they do really well on them. They gear fish for them though. I will throw some flies this spring.

Ringlee,
Where in North Dakota are you? I was raised in Pembina County, a hundred miles north of Grand Forks.
