My wife and I have a deal if we watch the big screen TV. If I get to watch the really cool stuff, like down hill, super-G, the new sport of snowboard cross (or whatever it is called), etc.,etc., ( you know, the REAL Olympic sports), then I have to sit through some of the boring things like ice dancing, and figure skating. While sitting there trying to look interested, I found myself examining some of the wild materials used in the costumes, particularly the feathers, and wishing, "man, those would be cool for flytying". Anybody else? Oh, and I have come up for a way to make ice dancing more exciting. Just put four or more teams on the ice at the same time to skate their routines.

figure 8 ice skating derby - I can picture that :)
I have a lap tray (with 2-3 inch sides that is normally used for 'breakfat in bed' - but this one WAS used for display by my wife until I stole it...) that I use for fly tying while my wife or kids watch TV or a movie. She could be watching Ice Skating or Desperate Housewives for all I care - I just tie up a few flies and wait for something interesting to come on...

Just the other night I was walking around mumbling to myself, "good lord, how much more ice dancing can a guy take".
I also find myself closely examining those costumes but I don't think I'm looking for feathers. The sequins, ya that's it, it's the intricate sequin patterns that make me wish I could pause the television broadcast.

Ice Dancing would be much more enjoyable with one hockey player sharing the ice trying to cross check the dancers. Think about it. It works, Steve
