Randy mentioned using a tool similar to a dentist root canal reemer for picking out the fibers on his Randy's beadhead flie in the best fly swap.

Well today had a appointment so I asked what he did with the old ones and his reply was they only use them once. I asked if I could have one. Sure help yourself so I went home with about 30 in various sizes in titanium and stainless steel.

Next time you have a dental appointment just ask.

Daryle

The dental appointment I don't want to talk about.

The one I would choose is the one on the right with the red handle, it's titanium and doesn't wear out. For you swap guys if you want one I'll go back and pick out from his bin before he throws them away.

I don't know about that, seems like I'd have flashbacks if I had that on my desk!

Just be sure to soak them in alcohol or boil in water to sterilize them...yuck!

Better get all you can before the dentist realizes how big a liability risk, he's taking, by allowing someone to remove those, with his approval.

I've never had a root canal and I cant really see the picture in detail. What's the difference between those and a regular bodkin?

I've had a root canal or 2 i'm sorry to say :(

They drill a hole and expose your root(s). They would use those needles with grooved sides (think skinny files) to cram down into your root and scrape\file down your nerve endings before filling the root canal back up with filler. You now have a dead\numb tooth that can have a crown or whatever placed on top.

I know, I just had one last week, but it was kind of cool watching in a mirror as they did it. No pain while they where doing it but man afterwards for a while it was just leave me the bloody pulp alone.

These were all sterilized before they leave the office. He made it quite sure, my daughter use to work for him and every tool goes through the procedure used or not. No worries folks.
