At our weekly Kiwanis meeting (any other Kiwanians out there?) we had a wonderful speaker from the Sparrow Club. It is a club that "adopts" children in medical need, "Sparrows" and works with a sponsor and forms a Sparrow Club at local schools to assist with fundraising. Really a heartwarming story. And it began here in Kirkland 15 or so yeras ago. Here is link to website:

Now for something a little off beat: the Sparrow Club is having a fundraising fly fishing derby. Pricy at $1,000 entry fee, but a chance for a really great and interesting weekend. Denny Rickards will clinic, private lake with fish up to 16#. Includes two nights at Rock Springs Dude Ranch, meals etc. Fishing at Alder Creek Ranch: http://aldercreekranch.com/fishing.html. Also prizes like golf at Pronghorn, fishing trip with Rickards etc.
Any takers? Sorry about short notice, but I just found about it today. They hope to do it annually, like a golf tournament only fun...!...
