if this isthe material I am thinking of, I have used it sandwiched to form small crab bodies, I used a mall amount of epoxy (90 second stuff at the hardware store) you mix yourself and applied it w a toothpick, those little critters DONT come apart =). I tried it because I didn't want to have to worryabout the water soluble properties

Is there a reason some type of glue is needed? I used some of the furry foam to tie up some dragon fly nymths for this coming summer. Should I have used some epoxy? They seemed solid enough.

no, not if its the same recipe Im thinking of.
furry foam underbody
olive,brown, tan, dubbing over it
a wrap or two of pheasant rump
plastic dumbell eyes
cool pattern, I modified it and made the body out of sculpin wool to get a broader and flatter body. It has a much better profile.

the furry foam bodies are for dry flies. its something that is just getting popular. however, when i stick different glue to the fur and the foam, it usually comes off pretty soon. any other thoughts would be great. thanks.

Can you post a photo of the fly or a description of the pattern? I'm having trouble visualizing what you are doing with the foam that would require glue. Zap-a-Gap might work (if you haven't already tried it) - it glues everything together, including fingers.
