I am planning to buy my first GPS. I have been comparison shopping for a while and found a few sites that seem to be doing a good job with pricing and customer service. I am still confused and undecided as to what to buy with all the various options. The folks at getfeetwet.com (quite helpful) have suggested the Lowrance H20 or thier 3010c Bundle. I also saw that they had a factory refurbished Garmin 2006 and GMR unit for half the price. Any thoughts on these units? I like the price of the 2006 factory refurbished but I am not sure what I am giving up? Garmin gives 1 yr warranty on the refurb and looks like getfeetwet adds a 2nd yr to that. I was assured that they are as good as new. Has anybody purchased a Garmin Refurb?

I have 3 GPS units now.
I use the Garmin Rino because it has the topo maps (extra cost) and the radio. I plan to upgrade to the color version sometime this year.
They have ocean maps, land maps and topo. The interface is eaiser to use than the Lowrance, but I liked the topo detail better on the Lowrance.

I can't help you on the Garmin Refurb, but I will say I recently purchased a Garmin 60CSx and it is fabulous.

I had a Garmin Legend C and I'm about to get a Legend CX for the expandable memory.
I would defiantly get Garmin, their MapSource Products are awsome and will be available for Mac soon!

If what you want is an inexpensive GPS with plenty of satelite gathering power I would recommend the Garmin GPS 12.... Old but very useful...I don't use topos on the GPS,,,that is left to the map.
