I recently bought some of Spirit River's Tarantu-Leggs. That's their name for barred, round rubber legs. I'm finding the the black barring (sp.?) is ink of some sort and rubs off rather quickly, leaving me w/ unbarred legs. Is there any way to make the barring permanent by dipping them? If not, have you found any barred legs where the barring is more permanent? Thanks.

Jon

Big Tuna, I use them quite often and I havent had an issue related to the bars rubbing off. It my have been a bad batch that you got your hands on. Usually I use a permanent (sp) marker just to and alittle more color to them. If the legs your using are tan I tend to add some black and alittle red just to spice it up alittle. Experimenting is usually a good thing. Give'r a go. Sorry if that didnt really answer your question.:thumb:

Jon,
I recently got a batch from the same source you probably did. The tan ones I got did the same thing. Thought it was something I did. Probably need to take them back.

check out Angler's Workshop catalog. they have one of the best fly tying material selections I have ever seen. they have 6 differnt types of rubber legs in the catalog.I havent had any trouble with the olor coming off even on the spirit river brand I have although there not labeled tarantula-legs. give them a call at 1-800 278-1069 and request a catalog or even better, if your in the woodland, wash. area stop in and ask to go in the back wharehouse if you cant find what you need up front. Bring plenty of cash, I can't seem to get out of there without spending a couple undred bucks. Way to much good stuff and definately the largst selection of saltwater supplies on the west coast.
Also a great rod building supply house and god prices.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I got a bad batch. I'll be checking before I buy in the future.
