Is the reverse spider strictly a fly for the river or is it effective with SRC in the salt too?

Very effective from the beach. My buddy gave one to me and I admit I was doubtful at first... Good fly for the times when they aren't hitting on anything else.

I think there was a topic in the freshwater forum that gave some more info on the spider - you might want to check that out.

I've fished the Reversed Spider on the beaches for a good many years. It works well for resident coho and sea-run cutthroat. I've also taken a few returning mature coho on it and once even got into a school of 18-/20-inch chinook jacks. I usually fish it on a floating or intermediate-sink line in the salt.

I've had my best results with orange with wood duck, yellow with golden pheasant tippet and black with yellow-dyed Amherst tippet.
