A few weeks ago I found out that one of the local fly shops here in town was going to be offering a spey casting class w/ Larry Aiuppy so I figured that this would be a good time to finally get my 11'6" 6/7 spey rod built up and and learn how to use it. I took the class on Saturday and due to cold rainy/snowy weather we had here in Bozeman the 3 other class members cancelled at the last minute which left myself as the only participant left and 7 hours of one on one spey casting instruction. It was a great class! I had the opportunity to learn several different casts and throughout the day I was able to test cast several different line setups to find the "perfect" line setup for my rod w/ my new limited knowledge. It was definetely a very enjoyable day and I think I came away w/ a new addiction to the world of spey casting. I did get the opportunity to cast his Echo classic 8/9 spey and boy that sure was a smooth rod. :beer2:

Josh, are you going to make it to the Red Shed clave in Idaho this weekend? I think Larry is going to be there along with quite a few other folks that know how to cast a two-hander.

Yeah Larry did say he was going to be there this weekend. I would really like to go but not sure if I will be able to make it as I have a bunch of stuff going on at work this week. Sounds like it will be a great gathering of people and knowledge.

Yo Josh!

You'll never get to be a steelhead bum if you put work before spey casting for chrome.

Yo Red!

True..very true indeed. What a life it would be if the only decision I had to make was what river I was going to fish today! Don't count me out just yet! :beer2:
