Well I lurk on this site mostly, I'm located in the last vestage of Wa. on the N.W. border and mostly fish in B.C. I've spent a solid year now watching the spey guys on the different rivers up here...I've talked myself out of it for awhile as I can toss a fair amount of line on my 9wt. but I just can't argue with the amount of time their lines stay in the water. I watched a guy on the Vedder fishing a run for steelhead this winter work a section of water in about 20 minutes that took me an hour and I never reached half the spots he did...So, I'm finally breaking down and joining....I've got a sage vt2 8wt on order...and that will be my learning rod...haven't picked out anything else..hopefully got a reel lined up...and will be looking of claves and classes ASAP....If I end up asking some redundant and stupid questions...I apoligise in advance....THanks, P.D.

Hello! I recommend you come on down to the Carnation Spey Fair put on by Aaron of River Run Angler. That should be a good place to get started.

You'll get a chance to see some casting demos, try out equipment, and meet some neat people. :thumb:
