I plan to do most of my fly fishing in the Salt, but the saltwater kit seems to tie only hooks from size 4 to 8/0.
Does anybody uses the "regular" traveler to tie saltwater flies and is happy with it?
Thanks!

I tie limited stuff for saltwater. The only problem I've had is the screw that adjusts the jaws initially broke one day, dropped my fly right in the trash(probably for the best!). Don't know what went on with the screw, just broke, maybe too much initial tension, and then locking the cam down finished it off. Otherwise, I love my traveller.
I'm not sure why they have that specification on hook sizes. I have the SW Cam and it handles both small and large hooks just fine. I think I've used it for sz 22 to 3/0 no problem.
I also had the small screw bust once though.

I think you’ll be happy with either the standard or saltwater traveler. Both will tie a wide range of hook sizes. Remember that the ‘Saltwater’ that Renzetti is probably talking about is east-coast stuff (they’re based in Florida). Most of the flies that people throw on the east coast are rather large by our standards. Nonetheless, I’ve successfully tied very small flies (#20’s) in the ‘Saltwater’ vise. On the other hand, the standard vise will easily hold a 4/0 hook.
It’s probably a question of what you plan on doing more of. If you plan on tying mostly stuff larger than #2’s, I’d get the Saltwater, if you’re not sure, get the standard vise.

Yep use the renzetti traveller for east coast salt water as well as all my trout, salmon, steelhead, bass, pike, and carp flies.
Get the cam jaws adaptor. Perhaps they come with it now mine is 13 years old and I upgraded to the cam jaws a few years ago.

I use my Traveller for everything: striper flies to midges.
Take the largest hook you're gonna tie on to your local fly shop where you are gonna buy the vise and try it out!

yep, I agree with flytire, I use the traveler for everything, from 28 to 6/0. You won;t be disappointed. But to clarify, I also use my Thompson model A for 37 years in the same capacity. The traveler is just a little better when ribbing the 20- flies
