These are a few of the variations of the Spawning Purple. I've had a couple people ask me to post these, so here you go. These work great for both summer and winter steelhead.
I created the original fly to resemble a General Practitioner, or GP, but with more movement and color variations. The first day I cast the fly I landed a 20 pound steelhead on a southern Oregon stream with my guide friend Denny Hannah in February 1973. Denny took the fish with the fly in it's mouth, frozen, to a sports show, as it was the largest fly caught fish he had ever personally seen.
Last night John Shewey and Forrest Maxwell stopped by with some chukkars for me, and we enjoyed reminiscing about these flies in particular.:beer2:

There are also many color variations from yellow all the way to black.
