I spent my fist day on the Clearwater with my new spey rod and felt a little lost. I was the only person I saw all day that wasn't on a boat. I am wondering if you guys could help me out and let me know some general areas that suit spey casters well. I was not sure how far upstream I needed to go. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From Lewiston to Kooskia. Its all good spey water and don't let the boats scare you off- they can often put you into a fish.

Turkish,

Oct. 15 is known as the aluminum hatch on the CW, when the river opens to boat fishing. A lot of fly guys try to get their licks in before that. Good fishing is had after that, but that might explain why you felt a bit lonely out there.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

I am up in Coeur d'Alene but will be back down in two weeks. I will have to stop by the shop and check it out. Thanks for all the advise.

Poppy's got the Clearwater dialed in. It's a pilgrimage when on the Clearwater.
