I've got some space open in my fly box for trout patterns and wondering what nymps are needed for winter stuff?

Nymphs, I stick with the basics in all sizes. Haresear, pheasant tail, renegades, and my favorite is a Hasbro. Then there is the pupa's like a Zebra Midge, Rainbow Warrior.

I fish with a prince nymph a lot. Works well for me.

I was gonna give you a big list of trout nymphs but realized tht you said for winter. So basically just chironomids, carey specials, and the usual streamers (woolly buggers, leeches, etc.)

I call it a Hasbro, cause that was the guys name (sortof) that showed it to me. It is a nymph tied entirely out of marabou. Tie in marabou tips for tail add wire , twist the marabou and wrap it forward toward eye (should get bushier at eye for nice tapered body) then wrap the wire for strength. Also, a tungsten bead (color to match wire). I tie it from 18 to 12

For Lakes in The summer:

Damselfly Nymphs:Ultra Damsels & or maroubou damsels

Dragon Fly Nymphs:Kaufmans Lake Dragon.

Midges/Chrinomids (sp?)
Ice Cream Cone Midges, griffiths nats

Streamers: Wooley Buggers, Muddler Minnows. Zonkers
Matukas.

Mayfly Nymphs
Flashback Callibaetis Nymphs, hares ears

Caddis Fly Nymphs: Soft Hackles

Crayfish: Wooley Buggers (heavilly weighted in crayfish colors)

Water Boatmen flys

Leeches: Bunny Leech or wooley buggers

(you probably wont need to tie all of these to cacth fish in lakes, most of the time a green or black wooley bugger will do the job)
