I've been casting an older 6/7 midspey (I say older because it is all one color?) I've cutback the front taper and looped a superfast sink poly leader thats 14 feet. It casts like a dream but I want to get down faster!
I usually nymph under an indicator because I think it's more productive but I enjoy swinging a fly more.
What are some of you guys throwing with this rod??

I have a new 6/7 midspey that Im holding onto if that comes into play in anyway

Thanks,
Scott

If the 6/7 MidSpey is working great for you buy the same line in a tips version, or have you tried any regular sinktips on your cutback line?

That rod makes a great skagit rod and will cast some surprisingly heavy tips with the right technique.

You might do a search on Spey Pages for any posts by Bob Pauli. He has posted a great deal of info on using this rod with skagit lines. Also you might find some interesting and useful info here:http://www.flyfishingresearch.net/

Thanks! That link helped alot in that it quantified some of the variables that are in front of me. I see that I CAN offset the fatter diameter of my "regular" tips with technique. Also not having to feel bottom to know I'm down.
