I have messing around with various lines to fit my burkie 7133-3 and have yet to find one that is a great match. For tips the windcutter 7-8-9 seemed ok but maybe still a hair light. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. I already have a long belly floater that works great but need to find a tips line. Thanks.

Its odd that the 789 wc is light for your burkie 7wt. When I ordered mine, I wanted a rod to match my 789wc and Kerry suggested his 8134-4. Just shows how different rods can be one weight to the next, even with the same company

Try a 450 skagit spey. See if it loads it or not. Should be a good match with T14 tips.

Good answer;:thumb: another choice (if you like a longer 'Scandi-head') would be the vision ace, also a 450 grain head, but more in line with a 'regular' flyline in casting stroke. I use one of these on my 13.9 seven weight and it's a zinger!

Jason,
A friend of mine owns this rod, so I've had many chances to cast and fish with it. I really like this rod. The line that he has on his is the Airflo 8/9/10 Scandi with 10 ft poly leaders in the various sink rates. His line is unmodified (uncut). I just ordered a Burkie 8139 because I wanted a little heavier line wieght than the 7133 and I already own a T&T 1307. My long term plan is to replace the T&T with a 7133, like I say I really like the way the 7133 cast and handles. I have also included the address of a site that has a veriety of line suggestion for Burkie spey rods.
Good luck, Tom

Thanks for the help. Has anyone tried a airflo delta 7/8 with tips?

Jason,
This is another one of those "semi-useful" posts. I have not cast the 7133, but am currently building the 7125 (it is all Tom Larimer's fault for putting that rod in my hand.. I have cast 7125 with the older style Airflo Delta 6/7 floater and it rocks. The 7/8/9 Scandi and 14' poly leaders would be close in length and grain weight to the 7/8 Mult-Tip IF it is the 2007 AirFlo

Be mindful of the fact that Airflo (along with others) has changed the grain weights for most line designations with the 2007 production run.

Airflo Delta 2006:
Short
6/7 - 500
7/8 - 530 grains
8/9 - 575
9/10 - 630
10/11 - 690
Long
6/7 - 550
7/8 - 580
8/9 - 630
9/10 - 690

Airflo Delta 2007:
Short
6/7-470gr
7/8-530gr
8/9-600
9/10-680
10/11-770gr
Long
6/7-510gr
7/8-570gr
8/9-640gr
9/10-720gr

Floaters and Multi-Tip are supposed to be same grain weights.

I found this info on Spey Pages. Maybe someone else has a reliable way to tell the difference between '06 and '07 without having to weigh them.
