I was honored to recieve an invitation from a fly shop to tie @ their booth @ the upcoming fly show in somerset NJ (Totally psyched more like )

They requested that I demonstrate some uses/appplications of Albino Peacock and Rhea

I have loved the past articles in ART OF ANGLING on the subject and have really enjoyed working these materials into my tying over the last 2 years or so.

Here are a group of squids on copper tubes (for Steelhead) and a group of streamers (for Stripahs)

AP is the main ingredient with some polar bear/rhea/flash to round them out

Hope y'all like

So, pardon my feather ignorance, but what feather do you use for the eye on those squid patterns? And Albino Peacock, is it pretty similar to Rhea? Do you strip the feathers and then tie strands in clumps, or are they wound? If wound, do you soak and then split the feather?

The Eye for the squids is peacock pheasant

USing Albino is a follows

The Fibres on the stalk are plucked/cut off and clump/bunch tied as you wish (sub for bucktail etc)

The eye is soaked and then as you stated split, and used as a hackle for large prawns or speys or if a sparse profile is desired (you do not get mre than 3 -4 turns due to the make up of feathers) or tie in @ tip , fold and wind as a collar for a full look

Peacock pheasant... Doesn't sound like a feather found in abundance... Still, I might have to try my luck at finding some... Thanks for the info!
