I have been tying hairwing, hackle tip, and GP topping versions of Harry Lemire's westernized "Tartan" that is featured in "Flies of the Northwest" (Inland Empire Fly Fishers - 1998) and thought I would share one of them with everyone. Just a great looking fly... intend to test all the versions I have tied as soon as the rivers get into shape hereabouts (maybe in May or June at the rate things are going!?!) If anyone has other examples of Mr. Lemire's steelhead flies, I would love to see them.

Thanks All...

Nice, there are a number of his patterns in many of the steelhead fly fishing books over the last 20 years in my library.

Steve, Art Lindgren recently published a new book called: Contemporary Fly Patterns of British Columbia. The book features fly tiers from each major region of BC. The final chapter includes other significant flies. Art describes Harry as someone who has had a profound impact on BC fly fishing and included a photo of Harry with about 10 of his flies. The photos of the flies are nice and they include the dressings. No detailed tying instructions but you should check it out for some nice examples of Harry's work.

Great job on your fly.

Best regards, Steve

Kind of weird that you used the word "Tartan". I was reading George Black's book called "Casting a Spell" tonight. The same word came up but it was referring to a woman's outfit. BTW, If your into boo, the book is worth reading.
