Hit the spey pages web board; you'll get everything you'll ever want to know about this rod.

Several years ago, the question was posted on the spey pages "If you could have any rod, what would you wish for" Or something to that effect. My "wish for" rod was an upgrade of the Sage 8150-4 which had been discontinued. Only I wanted it with spigot ferrules, a quality up locking reel seat, and a fast recovery blank designed with the latest graphite available.

Noburo granted me that wish in the CND Solstace 15'-2" I first cast the prototype/pre-release model at the Sandy Clave using the original 7/8XLT line which I had been using on my 8150. When a deal on one came up on the spey pages, I grabbed it and retired my 8150.

I cannot speak for it's ability to cast sink tips because, at the time, I couldn't bear the thought of cutting my XLT lines to attach a tip. But it will throw, mend, and fish a long belly greased line and long leader setup extremely well.

Will - We have this demo rod in the shop. I think its a great rod - pairs up really well with the CND lines too :) . It casts VERY smooth and easy for a 15' rod.

I have only tried the rod with dry lines, I have not paired it up with sinking lines. I know you are in BC...but if you are down in the Seattle area - you are welcome to test the rod out at the Sunday Spey Casting event on the Skykomish. Every Sunday, Mike Kinney is out at the Ben Howard boat launch. You can get basic instruction and test rods and lines.

I've used the 15'2 Solstice a great deal. Mostly with a Delta and Delta Long in 7/8. For me with that line size it handles tips just fine. I'm pretty sure when line matched per Noburo's recommendations you will like the rod.
