Just wondering if anyone knows anything about an older model Scott two hander. It says G1308/3 on the side and has grey blank with some maroon trim around the guides. A buddy of mines dad is selling it for around $200 bucks and I really cant find any info about this rod on the net. It has only been used a few times, but I have only seen pics and wont be able to get my hands on it before I buy. Any info welcome.

Thanks!

The G series rods pre-date the ARC`S , which is a fairly old line of rods itself .The action will be slow , and traditional . It should make for a great set-up with a Skagit line , or with a Windcutter type line . Just remember to slow down , and let the rod do all the work . This rod won`t want to be pushed .

Good Luck

Slow, I had one years ago. A very mellow rod, in alot of ways I almost prefered it to the ARC. If I had it today I don't know how much I would fish it, but I don't think I would sell it. Spey rods have changed so much since then. G rods in general have a very specific feel, I like them and enjoy the style of fishing they are best at. Others don't have the patience.
I guess this doesnt help at all

Heck, yes! Slow action rods (one or two-handed) are almost always user-friendly, good to learn on - and frequently, to happily stay with. They aren't the best choice for throwing tight loops with floating lines. But so what? We're usually using sinking tips, aren't we?

Also, slow action spey lines can be good long distance casters. You'll have to learn to operate it at the rod's preferred speed, but that's good training, too.
