I was wondering if anybody has had a chance to cast the TFO 13'3'' 8wt spey. If so, or if anybody has any input at all on which rio skagit line matches the rod the best, I'm all ears. Skagit 550 maybe? Thanks

Yes I think you are right in picking the 550. You may want a 5' cheater but I would try it without one first.

Depends if you like a faster or slower action. If you want slower, try the 550 without a cheater. Faster, try the 450 with a 5 or 10' cheater depending on the grains/length of your 'tip.
I prefer the 450 and use a 10' cheater with a 6' T14 tip, or 5' cheater and 9' T14 tip. But I've heard a range of preferences for this rod so my advice is to try the lines before you buy if possible.
Tight Lines!

I am using the the 450 with RIO tips for a 9wt, 5' cheater. So far, it seems to be fine. I have been fishin it here on the Clackamas which in some area's seems like home again.

andrew , i have both the 450 and 550 skagit shooting heads. the 550 plus tips wass running me at around 670 - 690 grains, a lil heavy for the rod i thought. the 450 plus wc tips works great and seem to balance better for me. i have a faster stroke so the timing is also better with the 450. hope it helps.
dont forget that the rio recomendations are minus the tips. i want to try the skagit dryline for summer.
