Hi everybody. Last Saturday I watched Skip Morris tie in Port Townsend. He tied a fly that he called the raccoon. It had grizzly hackle and tail, and a sparkley dubbed body. Skip said that there was the dubbing for sale at his booth, but since his presentation was the last, i didn't have time to go back and buy some before everything was packed up. Anybody know where I can get this or some similar stuff?

Thanks for your help

I have found the Raccoon to be an effective waiting period salmon fly. I have not been able to find the "prescription" dubbing so I bought 10 packs at the PT show. I have had the best luck with the yellow and pink. I called Skip's local shop (not a site sponsor) and they have the dubbing in stock. I am sure that with a credit card they would send you some. The shop is listed in the shops section on the home page. If you need any additional information, please send me a pm. Steve

As I recall, the recipe for the dubbing as well as the fly was covered by Fly Tyer magazine maybe three years ago. If I can find the issue, I'll let you know.

If you can't find the dubbing which is distributed as Arizona Flyfishing's Sparkle Nymph Dubbing you can make your own by blending rabbit fur dubbing with cut-up Angel Hair. Skip uses three colors, silver, pearlescent and the color of the rabbit dubbing being used.

If you need more details, the fly is covered in Skip's latest book "Morris On Tying Flies" which you can probably find a many fly shops.
