Can anyone give me some insight on the Redington line of Spey Rods. Looking at the DFR in particular. This must be a discontinued model due to it no longer being on the web page. What type of action does it have and what was the original retail of the rod if anyone knows? Thanks

I believe the DFR was Redington's top of the line. They had a pretty fast action and sold for $650.00 in 2003.
Some Rio line recommendations for this rod can be found here:

A short head spey line with tips (WC, Delta, SA, ect) is always pretty versatile. If you are Fall fishing on the Clearwater the short heads work well but the floating mid-heads seem to be pretty popular.
If your thinking more of the Ronde I think a short head tips is the best.

Will this be your first two hander? If the answer is yes, it is my opinion you should look for something with a more moderate action.

This will be my second rod, I now have a TFO 10wt that has a pretty moderate action to it.

I think bigbelly on the speypages has/had one or two of these for sale at a good price. I've cast most of the "Red" line from 12'6" up to the big 15'er and they are a great rod for the money. I like em alot actually.:thumb:

Your TFO 10wt is an excellent Clearwater rod when lined with a Carron or even a 9/10 MidSpey.

I do like the rod, I now have the Airflo Delta 9/10 on it but kind of want to try something with a Skagit type line. Would the TFO be a good rod for shooting heads?

You can cast shooting heads with most any rod although some will work better then others. Your TFO is made for a floating line long belly for fishing on the Clearwater. I have an Airflo NW skagit head you can try on that BIG TFO if you get down this way.
I think that DFR in 13' would make a great shooting head rod.
