plastic tubes with lead eyes, stinger hook near the end of the strip.

Lots of motion in these.

Newbie, sure and even better here is a photo tutorial from our GLs board. I varied the materials a little from the tutorial. Easy tie for multi species. For the most part the same flys used in the PNW work in the GLs for steelhead and salmon. We probably do use more nymphs though since our rivers and the GLs are rich in insect forms and the fish are feeding in our short rivers.

I like that smelt bunny tube, looks like a great bass fly for Lake Roosevelt.

The bass will surely be seeing these of course after the steelhead do.

looks good.

Where does the hook ride? Pointing down away from the strip or up? If up then the strip might fowl unless it(hook) is out past the end of the strip. If down, then you will likely encounter hang-ups etc if you are trying to fish close to the bottom.

Just curious.

I was wondering the same thing since you don't show a connecting tube. I've been tying a few tubes with the sequin action to imitate our leech with a darting action.

Daryle do you slip on a tiny bead (just big enough that it wont pass through the tube) in front of the tube, but behind the sequin, so the sequin can pivot on the bead different directions? I have been playing around with that trying to get it to dart around randomly. I have also crimped the sequin a little off to one side so it digs in like the lip of a crankbait but still rotates a tiny bit to make it move randomly and that works too.

I only dink around with that for bass and in the sound though.
