The ice is off Lenore, and the lake is fishable. The fish are starting to move to the north end of the lake.

It sure is nice to get a fishing report even though you didn't report of any fish caught. Oversight maybe???????? Or did you not fish??????

I fished the south end of Lenore yesterday with a couple of buddies. Landed the fish of my life (so far), a 27" 7.5 lb cutthroat on an olive spring creek special (thank you Ryan Davies...). The water is still cold - in the low forties. Lots of grass floating around in the lake. What a pain in the a$$ that was. One other fish landed by a pal, then the wind blew us off the lake at about 3:00 pm. Quite a hike back to the truck. Huge spawning cutties cruising around in the wasteway - fun to watch.

It seems like everytime I report fish being caught on here I get slamed, which starts to get annoying. So I thought I would lie low and everyind find out fore themselves. It wasn't long ago that Lenore was frozen.
Dude you're not getting slammed. Everyone appreciates you're report, I was wondering if the ice was off too. It's just that you failed to mention exactly where the fish are and what they are currently feeding on, as of right now.
WT, I also like to know what rock to stand on.

Let me rephrase that. In the past when I have posted up fishing reports I have got slamed. That is why I didn't post a more detailed report.

I don't slam anybody who doesn't deserve it. I don't think that I have ever slammed anybody. It's good to read about fish being caught. I for one will probably never fish Washington again, but it is fun to read about what is being caught or what isn't.
So keep the reports coming.

I'm always interested on how many fish have been caught and what you were using. Tell us more.

I appreciate complete reports as well.
Has anyone else been up there in the past few days and knows what's going on up there? I'm thinking about heading up there on Friday and really don't want to waste my time or gas on a trip for nothing.
Thanks!

Good to know that the ice is off of the lake, I will probably be heading over that way to do some fishing, so if you have any flies that are working good or a more detailed report that you would want to send me in a PM that would be great!
I know excatly what you mean about people being jerk offs on here and slaming others for no real reason for posting reports. I can see it to some extent in less known spots that are susceptible to pressure (small creeks and the like), but what I get really annoyed with is idiots on an ego/ power trips slamming people for posting reports about known spots. It is a shame that there are some people on here (you know who you are) who slam people that post a report that mentions the name of a spot.

iagree
I didn't want to hijack your thread this morning, but as a frequent viewer, infrequent poster I've grown tired of jerks who think that sharing information like where, when, what, etc is out of line.
Get over yourselves!! Some of us see this board as a way of getting information so we don't waste an entire day in a spot that is not productive. If someone is local to a lake or river and they want to post the info, I'm all for it and that's why I come here. That way I don't waste $30 in fuel driving up there to find a lake frozen, or turning over, or whatever.
Feel free to PM me any details you have about Lenore as well.
Thanks!

There appeared to be no ice anywhere on the lake on Sunday. Try a couple of glass bead Olive Midges 14-18 under an indicator on the north end of the lake but be patient. The water is still very cold and it has been cold here so far this week, so the best fishing is still probably a few weeks out.

Do the fish tend to be spawners this time of year or will they actually put of a decent fight?

This was my first time visiting Lenore, so I don't know about historical trends. I can only speak for the one I caught - he was pretty lethargic. He had some color, but was not dark. My guess would be that the quality of the fight in the fish might be more related to water temperature than spawning. The fish in the wasteway were almost black.

LCT will not jump or pull line like a rainbow but they are what they are...a nice looking trout that growns large and can be caught on flies. The water temperature probably has something to do with the activity displayed by the fish but even at ideal tempertures they aren't going to peel off 20 yards of backing.

that is a pig! nice fish man
generally speaking they arent spectacular fighters but ive seen my backing enough times to make it interesting for sure. fish are fish, trout are trout, some are hot, and some well.... are not. thanks for the info i appreciate the heads up :beer2:
