Taryn tied her first fly tonight. I started her on a white fish fry, bull / steelhead pattern which she ended up naming snow white. Dad & Taryn are all smiles. :D :D :D

So neat. My kids like to watch me tie - they'll pull up chairs and play with the hackles and stuff. My daughter is 7, so maybe it's time to let her have a go at the vise!

That's a great pattern to start kids off with. I started my daughter tying when she was 5 with a woolley worm and then moved to a Clouser Deep Minnow. Now she makes sure those flies go with me where ever I fish, salt or fresh water. It's hilarious. They are easier patterns and they keep their interest because they can be sucessful at tying them.
Great Job Taryn! That fly's going to be a fishing machine.

Better thatn anything I tie, especially with rabbit fur. Maybe its because I can't concintrate long enough while pulling hair out of my mouth and out of my nose.
