I wanted to start tying and fishing larger streamers this summer and I was wondering if anyone owns and recommends this dvd for a tying tutorial?

If you want to learn to tie Kelly's patterns which have helped make him one of the foremost large Brown Trout fishermen in North America this is a great DVD. It does not teach traditional streamers. His companion DVD on fishing these flies for large trout is also excellent and again it teaches his methods not traditional streamer methods of fishing streamer flies.

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. I just finished his book but I haven't tied the flies he recommends. His recipes and small pictures, while helpful, aren't enough for me to confidently reproduce the flies.

Great viewing. Only wish I would've had it before I started to spin deer hair.
He spends a lot of time going over those basic items that are a big help. 20 minutes to tie one streamer just shows how much detail and teaching he puts in. It takes me that much, and more, time to tie a zoo cougar on my own and I'm sure he could crank one out in about 3 minutes if he had to.

I checked out his website and he's apparently converted to articulated patterns for most of his streamer fishing. Of course, there's a dvd for tying these articulated patterns as well. It emphasizes different patterns with minimal overlap of the first dvd. I ended up purchasing both.
*Just an update in case someone searches this subject in the future. These are very well done instructional DVDs. I'll probably end up primarily tying articulated streamers, but both DVDs are excellent. On a side note, I drove to Kelly's shop (Slide Inn) last week when fishing the Madison only to find it closed for the season. When I called this week to check on an on line order, Kelly answered the phone and proved to be a class act, spending quite a bit of time discussing technical aspects of tying and fishing streamers.
