I went of the south end of Bainbridge from 4:00-7:00. No hook-ups on Miyawaki poppers, chum babies, or olive/white maribou clousers. Saw lots of jumpers just beyond range about 6:00 - assume they were coho. Best part of the day was the Grey Whale spouting about 30yds from me - first time that has happened. I guess that made up for the lack of fish.

Very cool close encounter Robast. That would have been a kick.

Those Grey whales are suckers for dead drifted krill flies! make sure you bring your 1000 weight rod.

I haven't been seeing the people that were fishing the south end a month ago. I figured it is kinda dead right now. I'd like to hear any reports you have for the area later on.

the fish were there shortly but not in numbers like years past. I found a good pod of residents yesterday so they are still around the island but i think it was a fluke. Just saw them splashing as i was driving by and stopped and caught 5 or 6 before i had to get going.
