Does anyone here cast both the CND tracker 12'2" 5/6 and black spey 12'6" 5/6/7?
I'd like to know how the actions, power and play of these rod compare.
Thanks,
Chris

Can't respond to your question directly, but sign on the the Spey Pages web board. Many of the fellows have used, or are very familiar with either rod.

Chris..... Since you are in Monroe :) ... come on by the Sunday Spey Sessions (http://www.allaboutthefly.com/custom.php?page=421) down on at the Ben Howard Boat launch and try them out. I know we have a CND Black Demo rod.

I need to talk to Ron, I know you guys have got a blank hanging around I might like! I definitely want to wiggle that demo rod, soon. Need to know more about the spey tracker, though....

Hey - Hey, Steve! Yeah, I don't think we have any demo rods of the Tracker Series. Stop by and talk with Ron - maybe we can get a demo rod sent out to play around with. See you later!

Hawkeye,
The CND Spey Tracker is my favorite graphite rod of all time. Unfortunately, it's a bit light for big water and winter steelheading, and I must resort to other rods for much of the year. But come summer low water, and that's what I swing for SRC and steelhead. Be good for bull trout also.
I haven't tried the Black Spey counterpart tho.
The Spey Tracker just puts my cast where I want it, completely devoid of any thought process on my part. It was an impulse purchase the same day I tried one at Aaron's Saturday casting sessions. I called around until I located one in stock and had it shipped that day. Totally irrational and atypical of me, but I like that rod and haven't regretted my impulsiveness for one moment.
Sincerely,
Salmo g.

Nailknot,
Yes, it's the CND Spey Tracker rated 5/6/7.
Chris W,
I have two lines, one an Orvis 6 wt short head Spey, and the other is the Hardy Mach II 8/9, altho it's the same weight (think 8/9 wt for single hand rods), and it casts like a dream. I spool these lines on my Hardy St John with plenty of backing. I can single hand cast it, but it's pretty slow action as a single hander, and it begs to be Spey cast.
Sincerely,
Salmo g.
