I saw this on Blanton's board and thought I'd share it here. This wasn't caught on a fly but is still one heck of an angling accomplishment. That is one chunky bonefish. I'd love to feel that fish on the end of my 8 wt.

That is a great looking bone, but there is no way that 16 pounds is a world record unless it falls into a certain tippet class. i.e. 16 pounder on 8 pound tippet or something like that. Awesome fish though. Coach

It could qualify for either the 12 pound or 16 pound line class record, depending on what the line sample tests at. The all-tackle record for bonefish was a 19 pound fish caught in 1962 in South Africa. The only other bonefish on the books larger than this fish is a 17 pounder caught in 1976 that is the 20# line class record. The largest on a fly was 15 pounds 8 ounces.
