Hi all.

I've just ordered a Rio Windcutter Spey 5/6, and was planning to put it on my Loop traditional 2.

I know the Loop takes a normal 7 weight WF or DT and enough backing, but how much space does a spey line take up, compared to a normal line?

Do you think it'll fit on my reel? :hmmm:

Thanks

Steff

Is your reel a 2W ? If so , you`ll have no problem fitting the line , with plenty of backing .The 5/6 Windcutter is only 110ft. long , and isn`t too thick in the belly portion of the line . I`ve got the same line , and I put it on a SA System 2 8/9 , with about 200 yards of 20 lb. dacron for backing . I think the Loop has about the same capacity .

I have a Loop 3W that I use on a different rod , spooled with a Windcutter 7/8/9 , and about 200 yards of 30 lb. dacron .

PS . if you wanted to , you could always cut some of the back portion of the running line , if it`s too tight of a fit .

It's only a regular model 2 ... Well I'll have to try it out then. Otherwise I'll have a fine excuse to go out and buy a bigger reel :D
