RIO Skagit line cheaters?

I am trying to decide on the Skagit setup for my CND Steelheader 8/9/10 rod. I have a Windcutter multitip line in 9/10/11 already, from another rod. Instead of buying completely new Skagit line from Rio or some other manufacturer, I am considering the option of using my Windcutter, converting it to Skagit setup by using the Rio cheaters. Has anyone here tried this setup? How does it compare to the true purposebuilt Skagit line? Thanks!

A lot of people are happily using a setup such as you propose. That is how many people got (some still do) skagit lines prior to the factory skagit lines. Depending on how you like the rod to load you may have to go up two line sizes.

OK, thanks. From what I hear, the existing Windcutter 9/10/11 will not work. I would need a heavier Wincutter line for this exercise.
