How do you tell the Bulls from the Hens? Just got the gun back and the trigger finger is ready to squeeze off a round with a couple of pumps. And if you call a turkey a Tom and hen, what's the proper name for the Starling?

The males have more pronounced iridescent feathers over their head and neck, extending down onto the shoulders. The rest of their feathers usually have more contrast between dark with light tips.
The females are generally more dull with less iridescence.
The males are the ones you want for fly tying.
I don't know what you call a male but a group of starlings is called a murmuration of starlings.
