So it looks like my father decided to buy a used drift boat today instead of a high end pontoon. That being said he saved some money and bought a "used" one. It is an older alumaweld and has a bench up front, but no seats. Does anybody know where I can find sliding mounts that will accept swivel seats? I know I can get the seats at joes, but i am having a hard time locating the brackets. Thanks.

Jesse.

I purchased a used driftboat trailer from Clackacraft a few weeks ago. Bruce and his crew are top notch. Talk about service... They build some nice boats, too.

actually, I was looking for the sliders so I can center one seat when I have only one passenger, or move them out to ditribute load ect. Ideally i would like two "moveable" swivel seats on my front bench.

That's exactly what I have, however mine came that way. Have you checked Fishermans Marine Supply? I'm going up there during lunch, maybe I can remember to look.

just did the same project. Sportco or any large supplier will have them. screw on the tracks and slide on the seats...super easy.

Jesse,

I checked Fishmermans Marine Supply. They didn't have the tracks. But it looks like you've got a great tip above, Sportco.

where is sportco located??? Also has anybody stripped an aluminum boat and refinished it? I am thinking of doing this to myu drifter so it can double as a waterfowl hunter.

I had swivel front seats in both my drift boats, and took 'em both out. They kept getting in the way, never seemed to be in the right place, and did just fine without 'em. I floated everything from the Washougal on weekends, to a one week trip down some of the ugliest white water in N. America, the Middle Fork Salmon River in Idaho.

So, my advice is put the slide rails in, just make sure you can slide the seats back out and leave them in the garage when you want to.

Look closely in the attahced photo at the front bench for the slides.
I took aluminum square tubing and cut it on the table saw to make "C" shapes. The bottom leg is longer than the top leg. I also counter sunk strips of polyethelene as slides and bolted them to the pivot base of the seat. Two seats fit in fine and are easily adjustable side to side for the weight balance. The seats don't lock inplace but stay where you put them. I do have to bunge them down when on the on the road as they vibrate over to one side.

10 to 15 bucks in materials and a couple of hours counter sinking screw holes and fitting.

Let me know if you need a hand and you can come over to the shop. I don't mind punching holes in fiberglass.

Let me see, I drink beer!!!!!
