So a nice lady I work with brought in a bunch of crabs on Monday. She doesn't know the first thing about crabbing or regs, but nonetheless she had purchased undersized, female crabs from an asian market in South Seattle. Has anyone else witnessed this shenanigans? Whoever is selling illegal crabs to unwitting consumers must be stopped, it's just wrong!

Not trying to be rude, but what did YOU do about it???

I mean...did you ask her where she got them and contact the appropriate authorities, or are you waiting for someone else to do that for you?

Allan, the deal is, if I ask her all I get is "asian store". She speaks English as a second language, so it's kinda tough to get specifics out of her. I'd rather those people just stop selling illegal crabs than have to get them a $X,000 ticket and shut the store down.

I'm 100% with you on this Kyle. The point I was trying to make in my post (which I failed to do), was that you were demanding that something "must be stopped", however there was no information as to where to go, whom to contact, or what you were planning on doing about the situation. Now that I have a better understanding the situation you're dealing with, I have un-bunched my panties and am back to normal.

...Now good luck with those crabs :D

NOTE: The author of this post does not actually wear panties.

So just to be sure, get a foto. Also find out the source of the crabs. It doesn't necessarily mean that where they are getting them is local to Washington. Without said evidence it'll prolly be heard to get fish and game to deal with it...

i have noticed that there has been a difference in the size of lobsters and crabs that come from canada. i know that they have different regs. this might be the source.

Is there a possibility they're farm raised crab? I have no clue if crab are farm raised as I've never heard of it... but just thought I'd pose the question.

Don't think so, If there were you would see a lot of crabbers on the west coast up in arms.
