View Full Version : Dash Point 8/3/07
In the interest of fair and even reporting:
-Brown’s Point: 5:30 a.m. = dirty water.
-Dash Point: 5:45 a.m. = I came up empty this morning. We saw a few fish caught on the Pier and one caught on either side of me (ouch)! But other than that my ‘goose-egg’ had plenty of company.
Off to Oregon this weekend, more reports coming next week.

You guys left browns before things started to pick up. I was one of the 2 guys there at\before first light when you guys came down.
The dirty water cleared out (right of the point at least) pretty fast and a few small schools of pinks came through. I only landed one thick shouldered 8lb pink (out of about 5 or 6 good strikes), but also got to try a wog for the first time and had fun getting some slashes at it, but no solid hookups.
Seemed like each fly fisher there hooked one fish each. And only 1 out of 5 of the gear guys got any action. I left at 7am once the crowds of buzz bombers were too much for me.

Chad, you got some Pinks to come up to your 'wog', pretty cool. :thumb:
When they start running thick will be fun to see what you can do. Going to use my Wog for the first time this year too. But first, need to catch a couple pf Pinks anyway I can, then I will play around with it, and a pink popper.
Sounds like we should have stuck around...:beathead:

You missed a good show. 3 ukranian (?) dudes were tossing massive buzz bombs next to me.
Immediately the first guy sets his hook hard into something and yells to his buddies as he cranks like mad. The rock does not budge  The young guy in the group get's called out to test his chest high neopremes - lure retrival duty (those buzz bombs are expensive!). He wades up to his chest, with inches before the water goes over, takes one more step, and in comes the cold water - and then more once a small wave moves in. But to his credit, he somehow manages to get the buzz bomb. This scene was repeated several times until I finally left - one guy would set the hook hard into a rock, shout out "fish on" in whatever language, then stop a few minutes later when he realized the 'fish' had never moved.
The guy to my right came down with an even bigger buzz bomb. He was talking to himself the whole time and acting pretty strange. He'd launch the buzz bomb 50 feet (his 40lb test made it hard to get much more distance) and start ripping the buzz bomb back like he's trying to snag anything in it's path (mostly just seeweed) - while cranking on his oversized and upside-down spinning reel like a madman...
Good times...

Glad to hear I wasnt the only one to get the skunk today. I need to wait longer on the hook set for those surface flies.
Great reports, keep 'em coming.
WT, nothing to report.
